SABDALIPI 2016-17-Annual Magazine Sambalpur University

The 'SABDALIPI 2016-17', Thee of Sambalpur University's Annual Magazine, 'Sabdalipi' is being brought our which I hope shall afford presence to the readers. The magazine contains articles and poems, short stories, paintings which are written by the students and members of the staff of the University.

We would first of all like to thanks Vice-Chancellor Prof.(Dr.)C.R. Tripathy, Chairman P.G. Council Prof. B. Satapathy, Register Dr. M. Muthukumar, Vice- President Prot. Sabita Tripathy, Associate Vice- President Dr.G.Bag for offering all the support to get this annual magazine published. 

Sambalpur University Results

The Sambalpur University Act was passed by the Odisha Legislature on tenth December 1966 to satisfy since quite a while ago loved the dream of the general population of Western Odisha for the foundation of a University.

The University began working from first January 1967 with Prof.Parsuram Mishra as the primary Vice-Chancellor. The University was introduced on fourth January 1967 by Hon'ble Chancellor A.N.Khosla. 

The University began working in 1967 out of a leased private working at Dhanupali, Sambalpur and in Government working at Ainthapali, Sambalpur from 1968 - 72. In the year 1973, the University was moved to the present grounds named Jyoti Vihar at Burla.

The regional locale of the University covers 10 areas of the territory of Odisha to be specific Sambalpur, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Deogarh, Bargarh, Bolangir, Subarnapur, Nawapara, Kalahandi, Boudh and Athamallik Sub-Division of Angul District.

The University at Jyoti Vihar gives Post-Graduate training in Twenty-seven subjects through Twenty Post-Graduate Departments.

The University Post-Graduate Departments offer one-year ponder Program for M.Phil Degree, two years think about a program for the Degrees of M.A. /M.Sc. /LL.M. /Business Administration/M.Lib and Inf.Science, One-Year P.G. Certificate Course in Computer Science and Application and Diploma Course in Sambalpuri Studies and Three-Year course in M.C.A. what's more, Executive M.B.A.

There are Ten Post-Graduate Hostels in the University Campus out of which four are Ladies Hostels and six are Gents' Hostels. The Central Canteen has been opened close to the Hostel Campus for the advantage of understudies. Other than there are two Nationalized Banks, one Post-Office, one Health Centre, one Auditorium, one Police-Out Post, one Faculty House and one Community Canter have been set up in the University Campus for giving administrations to understudies/instructors and representatives in the Campus.

The foundation of Directorate of Distance Education (DEC), Private Education Cell (PEC), One Nodal Computer Canter, Academic Staff College, University Yoga Center, Professor Bhubaneswar Behera Central Library are acting like the wheels for the University framework and would convey the University expediently towards accomplishing the honorable aid for which these are set up.

The Directorate of Distance and Continuing Education has begun in the year 1998 with just on-grounds courses in a joint effort with P.G. Branches of Sambalpur University.

Sambalpur University Syllabus 

Strive for academic excellence at par with national and international standards. Take up the social responsibility towards the educational uplift of the weaker sections of people as part of the institutional commitment. Make education and research socially more relevant by addressing some of the major regional issues. 

Provide effective leadership to improve the performance of various stakeholders through participatory management practice. Enrich the teaching/learning process and set such standards that other institution of higher learning would like to emulate. Upgrade the course curriculum of different subjects as suggested by NAAC Peer Team. 

Fill up all vacant teaching and non-teaching posts. Promote inter-disciplinary courses and create a research culture in the University. Create central instrumentation facilities for interdisciplinary research. Motivate teachers to submit project proposals to national funding agencies.

 Encourage individual eligible departments to submit a proposal to UGC for DRS and SAP. Prepare the students with relevant knowledge, competence, and creativity to face future challenges. Promote the “Academia-Industry Interface” for augmenting employment opportunities for the students/scholars through the existing “Sponsored Research and Industrial Consultancy (SRIC) Cell” Make the teaching and research more student-centric by incorporating the suggestions of students from time to time through a well-developed feedback mechanism. 

Evolve innovative strategies to help the weak learners, ensure reforms in the affiliation, academic and examination systems. Keep the motivational level of all stakeholders high through constant dialogue. Draw international scholarship to the University through students and faculty exchange programme by signing of MoUs. 

Create a more congenial and enabling study environment for the students, research scholars and faculty. Initiate steps for the possible inclusion of more number of affiliated colleges under the Sambalpur University to achieve the UGC status of 12 (b) and 2 (f).

Focus more on the academic growth of those affiliated colleges located in remote regions in order to provide them better scope for quality education. Establish a “Western Odisha Cultural Study Centre” to study, preserve, promote and protect the intangible cultural heritage of western Odisha. Create a students’ activities center to make the campus more vibrant. Establish an Advanced Computing Centre and Centre for Innovation and Incubation. Complete the process of digitalization of central library.

E-evaluation of answer scripts as part of the newly launched "Digital Sambalpur University"; evolve strategies for better placement of students through the University Placement Cell Bring reformation in administrative procedures through adoption of ICT-enabled administrative management; improve financial management for maintaining transparency; provide support and guidance to IQAC of different affiliated colleges through the University IQAC

Resource mobilization for holistic development of University, fund mobilization for the creation of a sports complex and completion of boundary wall for preventing ongoing encroachment; creation of Soft Skills and Entrepreneurship Development Cell for better employability of students. Ensure timely conduct of examination, publication of results and distribution of original certificates, move forward all the innovative initiatives taken by my predecessor to accelerate the pace of educational progress, and finally to improve the overall quality by ensuring conformity to prescribed norms and standards of UGC/MHRD.

The long cherished dream of the people of Western Odisha came true, and the indefatigable efforts of the academicians, intellectuals and political leaders of the region bore fruit when Sambalpur University Act was passed on 10 December 1966. Sambalpur University came into being and became functional from 1 January 1967, with Dr. Parsuram Mishra as the Vice Chancellor. Dr. Zakir Hussain, the then President of India, laid the foundation stone of the present campus on 5 January 1968,  at Jyoti Vihar, Burla, at a distance of 15 km from Sambalpur city and 7 km from the famous Hirakud Dam. 

Since 1973 the administrative, academic and residential buildings of the University have been located at the Jyoti Vihar campus sprawling over 630 acres of land amidst sylvan surroundings.
